Review: The Demon Seer: An Ethindriil Short Story by Jonathan Pasquariello

The Demon Seer is the first book I have read by Mr. Pasquariello, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this seemingly dark fantasy adventure, with its twist of how demons are born into this world from Hell. A short story and spin off, I have since learned of his full-length novel Fate of an Empire.

Set in the world of Ethindriil the story focuses on Krillian Pike, a demon seer and once demon hunter of the fallen guild, who has been captured and sentenced to burn at the stake under crimes of murder and witchcraft, all though in truth is the enemy of all practitioners of the dark arts. Well caged, Pike reflects on the choices of his life and the hurtful memories of what he had to do to protect the human race, unknowingly to them from the unholy creatures within their fleshy shells.

After reading this I fully intend to pick up his novel Fate of an Empire, and can’t wait to read whatever he writes next. I fully recommend this book to anyone looking for a short but enjoyable, dark fantasy adventure.

Review: Vampier Dead-Tective (Dead-Tective # 1) by Mac Flynn

I have to say I really enjoyed Mac Flynn's Vampier Dead-Tective right from the start, definitely did what I want from any book and kept me entertain till the end... Filled with monster and mayhem around every corner it's a book you can easily find yourself pulled into.
(Possible spoiler alert) Liz Stokes was an ordinary office worker, but when her roommate Tim is killed she quickly finds herself in a world where the paranormal exists. He leaves behind for her his ring and his snarky partner (friend?) Vincent, a vampire with a major attuned problem, knowing the dangers that came the moment he and Liz became close, and well aware when the situation came he would be the one thing that could keep her safe. Now with Tim gone, she quickly finds herself being hunted by other paranormal creatures and Vincent is her only protection in the unknown world of monsters that she has been thrust into.

If you enjoy snarky characters and monsters, with a good old big helping of vampire I thoroughly recommend this book to you, and I can't wait to find the time to sit down and read the rest of the series.

Review: The End of the Trail by Louis Rakovich

I picked up Louis Rakovich’s The End of the Trail not knowing what to expect, but I must say I found myself pleasantly surprised by the dark and Mystical atmosphere that this short story brings, as the more I read, the more enchanted I found myself by this dark fairy-tale and it charming descriptive narrative progressing through to the end of the story with its almost poetic prose that reminded me of similar works I can only relate to the infamous writers of the 19th century.
The story itself takes place in a mystical realm and centers itself around the lord of a barren land of salt and snow where the freezing cold waters rise every night and at times takes the lives of the young and old alike. When this unnamed lord is summoned to the king's bedchamber deep inside the castle walls by the young queen and sees the horrors that have become the king in sickness, he is sent on a quest to find the witch that had cursed the once beautiful king.

I’ll tell you now that this is a tale short (Probably its’ only down, as it leaves you wanting more) but filled with twist and turns that will take you to a place you never saw coming, and if you enjoy such tales of dark fantasy is definitely worth the read.

Review:Fat Vampire by Johnny B Truant

As a long-time fan of the Horror comedy genre, I have to say Johnny B Truant really hits the spot with the first book of his Fat vampire series, the best way of putting it,  It’s a story you can really sink your teeth in too, Ha-ha-ha! It is a quick, but highly entertaining read with great character development and a witty narrative. The story is well written, the plot has a great pace, and it kept me turning pages. It drew me into the point, that I opened the book up on my I phone and didn’t stop reading until there were no pages left to be read, now that’s what I call a good story.
The story revolves around Reginald Baskin an overweight treadmill salesman who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and becomes a vampire and It’s just Reginald's bad luck that he wakes to find  he's become the slowest, weakest, fattest vampire ever, and doomed to  spend eternity that way. As Reginald struggles with the downs of being a fat vampire, too slow to catch people to feed on, mocked by those he tries to glamour, assaulted by his intended prey and left for undead, he discovers a rare power in himself that few vampires have … and just in time, because the Vampire Council wants him gone, dead, obliterated as an inferior member of their race. And yes I did rip some of that from the description, why? Because there’s no better way to describe it then from the awesome words of Truant himself.

I can honestly say I will definitely be picking up the rest of this series as I truly enjoyed it, and am curious to what will happen to Reginald and his new friends from this point on. If you’re a fan of witty humor and are looking for a great read, I highly recommend this book.
